Having oily skin is a truly maddening thing, getting that flawless polished makeup look is a battle – how is one supposed to look khoobsurat best, if makeup refuses to stay put! I am one of those “blessed” (apparently, we don’t wrinkle easy) people who are oily irrespective of the season and believe me the struggle to keep the early afternoon slick at bay is real. The unsung hero in my battle has to be a makeup primer; find the right primer and it’s a game changer. A primer essentially acts as a base for foundation, creating a smooth, flawless canvas for seamless makeup application aka the glue holding your skin and your makeup together.

By no stretch of imagination am I an expert, just your average jamila who has a hundred things going on and just wants her makeup to give her a break! Finding that holy grail pore-blurring, oil banishing, makeup saviour has frankly become an obsession with me. Here’s my list of tried and tested favourites (in no particular order) that I find myself reaching for constantly.

Benefit- The Porefessional.

Having used this product perhaps daily for the past 3 years i swear by it! With a silky texture this lightweight primer goes on like a dream and helps mask the appearance of pores and fine lines while helping makeup stay put.

Mac Prep +Prime Skin Base Visage.

This product has been around a while and has rightly attained cult status because of its hard working nature. Its blurs, smoothens, controls all while blending out really well onto your skin!

Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer.

This oil-free face primer smooths away the look of pores, visibly evens skin tone and texture, and instantly absorbs shine without feeling dry or chalky. That means smoother foundation application and longer makeup wear.

Max Factor Face Finity Foundation.

A fairly recent addition to my repertoire, it’s fast becoming a firm favourite,. With a refreshingly light gel cream texture it goes on like a dream and definitely does put my oily skin woes at bay!
