5 WAYS TO DISGUISE A BAD HAIR DAY
By Shameneh Majid.
Oily hair anyone? Or is it frizzy? Perhaps the universal bed-head? Maybe you just don’t have time to tackle that tangle of locks.
We have a few tips guaranteed to help you make the most of a bad hair day.
Dry shampoo: If oily hair is the bane of your existence, dry shampoo is your best friend. If you want a quick cheaper alternative, use baby powder. Dust or spray your roots, starting at your hairline and moving back towards your crown.
Don’t start with too much product as it can leave your hair looking gray and feeling clumpy. Build up based on what you need. You can work it into your length and have instantly voluminous, cleaner looking hair.
Slick it: If it’s frizz that’s bothering you, chill! Nobody has perfect hair all the time.
If you really want to tame it though, you can go with a loose updo, or slick it down with some gel, mousse, or even natural aloe vera gel.
Braids: Bed head is sometimes a blessing in disguise. It can be the cause of great volume and bounce, but in case it’s not, you can always play around and braid your hair.
Try a fishtail, or classic french, maybe dutch braids, or a waterfall to calm your crown and let the rest of it flow!
Updo: Detangling dry hair is a nightmare and can lead to excessive breakage. The easiest thing you can do is to pin it up in a loose messy bun or updo that keeps it from tangling further but looks presentable enough till your next conditioning session.
Accessories: Time to pull out that cute as heck hat or headband out of your closet and put it to use! Don’t have a headband? No problem. Tie up a scarf or any fabric and you’re good to go!
You don’t owe it to
anyone to look a
certain way, you’re
beautiful the way you
are and it’s important
to remember that on the
good and bad days.
You can always mix and match and try a combination of the above. Maybe a braided bun with a headband? It could look amazing and can make you realize that a bad hair day is just what you needed to push yourself out of your routine and comfort zone and try on new things to create edgy looks.
These are only some of the things you can do. The possibilities are endless. But remember, you don’t owe it to anyone to look a certain way, you’re beautiful the way you are and it’s important to remember that on the good days and the bad.
